Costa Rica La Falda Medium Roast

Costa Rica La Falda Medium Roast

Regular price £5.85
Size

An elegant coffee from Costa Rica, this one has flavours of stone fruits, sweetness with a silky body.

The coffee is produced in San Ignacio de Acosta, two hours away from San José (the country's Capital) at a farm called “La Falda”. La Falda means skirt in Spanish and the name is due to the topography of the farm, where coffee plantations wrap around a small mountain looking like a skirt. The Owner, Miguel Diaz, inherited the farm from his dad recently and even though he is on his early 30s he has gathered the best knowledge out of the old school (his dad) and new practices recommended by engineers.

Four years ago Palmichal Micro-Mill took the decision to process the coffee beans from La Falda Farm in its micro-mill due to its pristine location, farm practices and commitment to harvesting only the ripest of cherries. After years of working together Palmichal has been able to evaluate La Falda’s consistency in its cup year after year. The idea is to continue with this long-term relationship far into the future.

Hunting is illegal in Costa Rica however there are always people who don’t obey the laws.

Miguel has a serious commitment to keep illegal hunting away from his area. At La Falda you can see a lot of animals like rabbits, raccoons, squirrels, a huge variety of birds and more.

Satisfying

Smooth & satisfying, like many of Pebble & Pine's Central American beans in their medium roast form; there are no sharp edges. Definitely my style of coffee.

My new favourite

I've tried most of the medium roasts from Pebble and Pine over last few years. My favourite used to be Santa Elena (Honduras), but after that was discontinued I found this to be equally beautiful coffee for my morning shot.

Wow

Another fantastic coffee from Pebble and Pine. I would highly recommend this coffee if you like a full body without the bitterness.

Coffee selection

Enjoying the selection, all good so far.

Liking it the more I drink

I like to try new coffee beans but wasn't sure at first with this one. However, with an adjustment to the grind and the amount I was using in the filter, I've begun liking it the more I drink; though I usually only drink coffee once a day. I get the smooth body with hints of chocolate and stone fruits, and the acidity is quite lip-smacking so I use just a little sugar to soften things up. I brew espresso and this coffee gives excellent crema from my machine. Different to what I normally drink but it could grow on me. I certainly like the fact that it's produced from a co-operative working to make life better for those facing economic difficulty. A good find.

Excellent coffee

Nice introduce to their coffee.

I usually go for a darker roast but this coffee has a great aroma, a smooth taste and a wonderful body
