Colombia Finca La Lomita Medium Roast
An excellent micro-lot of coffee beans from the Finca La Lomita estate in the Farallones de Cali region of Colombia. The owners, the Canal family, have been running the farm since the first coffee trees were planted in 1978 and the first lot, a relatively modest 450kg of beans, were harvested in 1980. The farm now produces around 19 tons of raw processed coffee beans per year.
The estate consists of 6.6 hectares of productive land and 4.5 hectares of protected forest. Today there are around 37,000 coffee plants at varying stages of age and production and 7,000 new trees were planted last year alone.
La Lomita is located on the east face of the western branch of the Colombian Andes, in the region known as Farallones de Cali at a height between 1,600 and 1,700 metres above sea level.
This natural processed coffee has some lovely caramel flavours with slight nut undertones and has achieved an SCA score of 85.
