This Rainforest Alliance certified coffee is produced by the Peralta family in the municipality of San Fernando in the Nueva Segovia region of Nicaragua. It's a natural honey processed coffee bean that gives it a creamy body.
The 50 or so hectares of forest, situated on a mountainside, have been under the ownership of Octavia Peralta since 1970 but he only started growing coffee in the area when the UN cleared it of mines in the 1980s.
Approximately half the land has been set aside for preserving the natural habitat, which is a main factor in the quality of the coffee being produced and has resulted in this particular coffee micro-lot attaining a score of 85 on the SCA scale.
Available in 200g and 450g resealable bags.
