Our dark roast Colombian coffee beans come from the famous Huila region, a place in Colombia known worldwide for its outstanding coffee. Located high in the Andes mountains, Huila’s ideal climate and rich soil make it perfect for growing top-quality Arabica beans, producing the popular Excelso Coffee.
Farmers in Huila grow their Colombian coffee at elevations of around 1,200 metres, where the cooler temperatures help the beans mature slowly, developing a richer flavour. These farmers use sustainable methods, carefully handpicking each coffee cherry at exactly the right moment to guarantee quality and freshness.
The term Excelso Coffee refers to the bean size and quality rather than its flavour. Excelso beans are medium-sized and highly rated for their consistency and quality. They go through a careful wet processing method, where beans are fermented, washed, and dried. This approach preserves their natural flavours and keeps the acidity clean and balanced.
Our dark roast brings out delicious caramel notes and reduces acidity, giving you a smooth, easy-to-drink coffee. When brewed, you'll notice tasty hints of caramel, toasted nuts, and subtle fruity undertones like cherries and blackberries. Each sip finishes with a pleasing sweetness, making our Colombian Excelso coffee a great choice any time of day.

Great tasting coffee
A colleague lives in Colombia and regularly presents me with beans. And Colombian coffee is generally good. However, Excelso exceeds my expectations. A rich, creamy, gentle coffee with a lot of depth. Perfect in the morning, but doubtless just as good later in the day. Thoroughly to be recommended.

This is my husbands favourite out of all of his purchases. The smell draws you in and when the beans are ground, the taste equals how it smells, hubby says it’s strong,full of flavour and the complete package. A must for anytime of the day. Perfect for cafetières.

Ordered a variety of coffee beans. This one is the best so far.Not got a bad thing to say. Outstanding service and great product. Ordered this again in a kilo bag along with another coffee to try. I have tried several different coffees over the last couple of months, discovering that the medium roasted beans were not quite to my taste so decided to try a blend of Excelso dark roasted bean with the Ipanema medium roasted in a ratio of 3 dark to 1 medium. Finally a blend I really enjoy, black with no sugar, one cafetiere every morning. Not good for my caffeine intake but hopefully will make my doctor happy about the sugar intake!!!

I thought I’d try a different coffee bean roast than my usual and I wasn’t disappointed. It took me a couple of cups, because I was so used to my regular bean, but I’m really enjoying the depth of the flavour now.
