From Coffee Lover to Award-Winning Roaster: The Story Behind the Beans

My name is Dave Nixon, and I founded Pebble & Pine in 2016 with a simple mission: to bridge the gap between world-class specialty coffee farms and your home kitchen. My journey into the world of specialty coffee began with a fascination for the 'Grand Tour' - the incredible diversity of flavours found across the coffee-growing belt, from the bright acidity of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe to the chocolatey depths of Brazilian Arabica.

The Hands-On Approach

Unlike mass-produced supermarket coffee, every bag that leaves our Leeds roastery has passed through my hands. I personally select our seasonal green beans, focusing on ethical sourcing and flavour profile. I spend my days at the roaster, fine-tuning profiles to ensure that the unique 'terroir' of each origin shines through in the final cup.

Why I Do It

In 2024 and 2025, Pebble & Pine was honoured with awards from Lux Life and the Yorkshire Prestige Awards. While the trophies are great, my real satisfaction comes from the feedback I get from our community. Whether you are a home barista perfecting your V60 technique or someone looking for a reliable morning cafetière, I am here to ensure you never have to settle for a stale, bitter cup of coffee again.
