Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Rocko Mountain Medium Roast
About this Ethiopian coffee bean
Some incredible natural processed Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee beans from smallholders based around the Rocko Mountain in the Haricha Woreda, Yirgacheffe. These smallholder farmers hand-pick their coffee cherries and sell them to a local trader who oversees the processing and sorting before passing the beans to the ECX (the Ethiopian Coffee Exchange) who grade according to SCAA standards. Addis Exporter then purchase the top quality lots from the ECX and select the best for their ‘Rocko Mountain Reserve’.
Ethiopian coffee is wonderfully fruity and fragrant and that is especially true with this premium coffee from the Yirgacheffe region. The coffee bean in this particular lot is wet processed, which is usually the case with coffee from Ethiopia, giving the resulting brew a very clean taste. If you plan to use this for an espresso, please note it has a very high acidity level. We roast this one to medium, mid-way between first and second crack, so that the fruitiness is not lost from over-roasting.
Expect sweet lime, strawberries, cane molasses with violet and honeysuckle fragrance. This is an extremely high quality Ethiopian coffee bean with a cupping score of 90.5. Definitely the highest quality coffee in our line-up so far.
This Ethiopian coffee is perfect for a filter or cafetiere brewing method due to the high acidity and fruity taste.
It is widely believed that coffee originated from Ethiopia and was discovered by a humble goat-herder called Khaldi. Whatever you believe, Ethiopian coffee beans are unique in flavour and aroma with some really fruity notes. If you're a real coffee aficionado, or you want something a little different from the usual Central and South America beans, then you'll definitely appreciate the complexity of flavour that these Ethiopian coffee beans deliver.
