Peru Los Amigos Del Oso Dark Roast
Peru Los Amigos Del Oso Dark Roast
This darker roast profile offers a bold, heavier-bodied experience, featuring rich notes of dark chocolate, toasted nuts, and deep molasses sweetness.
The Project: Coffee for Conservation
The Los Amigos del Oso project (meaning "The Friends of the Bear") supports the protection of the spectacled bear and other native wildlife in the buffer zones of the Santuario Nacional Tabaconas Namballe.
By choosing this coffee, you directly contribute to the conservation of endangered species habitats. The cooperative balances production with protection by providing farmers with native forest trees to replant alongside their coffee crops.
Sustainable Farming & Processing
Cultivated at high altitudes reaching 1890 masl, these dense beans are ideal for a darker roast that develops intense sweetness without losing origin character. The farming process is rooted in sustainability and efficiency:
-
Organic Fertilization: Discarded coffee cherries are composted on-site to create natural fertilizer, reducing the farm's environmental footprint.
-
Clean Processing: Producers utilize solar tents for precise drying and 200-litre drums for controlled fermentation.
-
Certified Standards: Both Fairtrade and Organic certifications ensure a culture of wildlife protection and fair compensation for producers.
