Guatemala El Pensativo Medium Roast
Guatemala El Pensativo Medium Roast
Grown in the high mountains of Acatenango, Guatemala, this coffee comes from a group of small farms that are part of the El Pensativo cooperative. These farms sit between 1,550 and 2,000 metres above sea level, near two active volcanoes called Acatenango and Fuego. The volcanic soil and cool climate help give this coffee its unique taste.
The farmers grow a mix of traditional coffee types, like Bourbon, Typica (also called Arabigo), Catuai, and Caturra. The beans are picked between November and March, then washed and dried using a careful process. If the weather isn’t good, the beans are dried using special machines called Guardiolas, which gently lower the temperature to help preserve flavour and freshness.
El Pensativo has been working since 1972 and gets support from a larger group called Fedecocagua, which helps with things like equipment, advice from plant experts, and small loans to farmers.
This coffee is known for its balanced flavour and careful processing, which protects both quality and the environment.
Grown in the volcanic highlands of Acatenango, this washed coffee offers a clean, balanced cup. Expect moderate acidity with gentle sweetness, and notes of red apple, hazelnut, and milk chocolate. The finish is smooth, with a soft citrus edge that lingers pleasantly.
Ideal for filter brewing, but also performs well as a lighter espresso. A great showcase of classic Guatemalan profile with a touch of high-altitude clarity.
