Kenya AB Baragwi Mushagara Medium Roast
Kenya AB Baragwi Mushagara Medium Roast
Grown on the slopes of Mount Kenya in the Kirinyaga region, this washed Arabica Kenyan coffee comes from the Mushagara processing station, one of several managed by the Baragwi Farmers Cooperative Society. The AB grade refers to the size and density of the beans, which contribute to the clarity and complexity in the cup.
Baragwi is one of Kenya’s most established co-operatives, representing thousands of smallholder farmers who cultivate coffee at altitudes between 1,600 and 1,800 metres. The region’s red volcanic soil, reliable rainfall, and cool nights make it ideal for producing high-grown coffees with bright, distinctive flavours. Farmers deliver freshly picked cherries to the Mushagara station, where they are sorted, washed, fermented, and sun-dried on raised beds.
This lot offers a classic Kenyan profile: vibrant acidity, juicy fruit character, and a clean, crisp finish. You’ll find notes of blackcurrant, red berry, and grapefruit zest, with a touch of florality and a wine-like sweetness.
Well suited for filter or cafetiere brewing methods, but can be brewed as espresso, this coffee is a showcase of the region’s terroir and the care taken at every stage of processing. It’s traceable, thoughtfully sourced, and roasted to highlight its natural complexity.
