Kenya AB+ Oreti Light-Medium Roast
Kenya AB+ Oreti Estate: Light-Medium Roast Coffee
Our Kenya AB+ Oreti Estate coffee comes from the Thika Plateau, a renowned coffee-growing region situated just below the Aberdare Mountains. Sourced from a multi-generational family estate, this particular lot is made up of the classic SL28 and SL34 varietals. Grown at heights of up to 1,650 meters in rich volcanic soil, the "AB+" grade indicates that the beans have been carefully sorted for size and uniformity, which helps ensure an even, consistent roast.
The Oreti Estate is managed with a strong focus on sustainability, where the coffee trees grow alongside macadamia and native fruit trees to support local wildlife. After the cherries are hand-picked at peak ripeness, they undergo a traditional fully washed process using clean river water. This method cleanses the beans thoroughly and is the secret behind the crisp, bright, and wonderfully refreshing characteristics that high-quality Kenyan coffee is famous for.
We roast this coffee to a light-medium profile at our roastery in Leeds, balancing its natural brightness with a smooth, comforting sweetness. In the cup, you can expect a juicy, fruit-forward flavour featuring notes of blackcurrant, red berries, and a touch of lime, all rounded off with a warm brown sugar finish. It makes a beautifully vibrant pour-over filter coffee, but it also has enough body to create a sweet, citrusy espresso.
