Coffee Beans & Ground FAQs
How Fresh is the coffee?
We roast all coffee beans to order in-house on our premises in Leeds and then they are despatched directly to your door. The coffee is only roasted once your order is placed.
How ethical is the coffee?
We always prioritise establishing relationships with specialised importers who uphold our ethical standards. These partners are committed to not only meeting, but exceeding, fair trade price requirements, aligning with our goal to support sustainable and ethical practices in the coffee industry.
Our importers also work closely with the farms to help them improve their farming practices as well as increase the quality of the coffee they produce, thus securing a higher price for the farmers in the market.
Which coffee beans should I use for filter?
When choosing coffee beans for filter brewing, consider your flavour preferences.
The roast profiles we use ensure proper development of the coffee, with not too much acidity.
Therefore all of our single origin coffee options cater well to both cafetiere and filter coffee methods.
Which coffee beans should I use for espresso?
Any of our single-origin coffees are suitable for espresso.
The roasting profiles we use for our single origin range of coffee beans ensure they are easy to manage in terms of machine settings and are forgiving during the espresso-making process.
If you're having trouble, please get in touch any time and we'd be happy to help out.
How are the coffee beans roasted?
Our coffee beans are always freshly roasted on our Giesen coffee roaster, which is fitted with an electrostatic exhaust filter to ensure we're kind to the environment.
Buying freshly roasted coffee beans and grinding them as needed will help you to produce the best possible coffee.
Can I customize the grind at the time of purchase?
Yes, you can have your coffee beans ground to your specifications when you place an order.
We do recommend buying your coffee in whole bean form and using your own grinder. That way the coffee is at its best when you brew and the coffee beans, when stored properly, keep fresher for a lot longer.
Let customers speak for us
from 1901 reviewsThis was my first order from this company having come from a very well known producer as i wanted to try something different and compare.
I was not left disappointed and in fact was very pleasantly surprised as this coffee is very much how it is described with taste notes of walnuts caramel and cream and leaving no bitter after taste.
I chose this particular coffee bean because it was they're most highly reviewed but will now definitely try others from this company.
Thank you!
One of our all time favourites, bought multiple times
Great coffee, fast delivery and a nice personal note with delivery.
This is my second order with Pebble & Pine. I was absolutely delighted with the first order. I am relatively new to grinding my own beans, having only just purchased my first machine.
My initial order was Clarke Farms Ugandan medium roast and Supremo Cafe Sofia Columbian dark roast. The latter was my personal preference. I was delighted with the quality, packaging, communication and speed of delivery. I have received my latest order and intend to work my way through the range. Congratulations to the whole P&P team.
I’ve tried pretty much all of the beans here. This would be in my top 3. Really good!
…this roast is exceptional.
Great coffee beans at a really reasonable price - especially impressive given how much coffee prices have gone up. Highly recommend!
Only just started using this coffee and it tastes very nice. Always had a bean to cup filter type machine but now got all singing all dancing espresso machine so still experimenting with grinds etc. Good fresh roasted date and so far so good.
So far probably the best coffee I have ever tasted !
A colleague lives in Colombia and regularly presents me with beans. And Colombian coffee is generally good. However, Excelso exceeds my expectations. A rich, creamy, gentle coffee with a lot of depth. Perfect in the morning, but doubtless just as good later in the day. Thoroughly to be recommended.
These dark roasted beans make an excellent rich coffee with chocolate notes. It is in my top two and have been ordering this from you for years so please continue to supply it. [I like this more than the medium roast.]
A very good coffee with chocolate notes and balanced acidity. It is good but your Sumatran Menagold, not currently available, was one of the best coffee beans in your selection.
I have been buying coffee from Pebble and Pine for sometime now and I have never been disappointed. The range and quality of coffees are excellent and together with a very flexible subscription plan all adds up to a great experience. I find the guys very helpful providing a great knowledge of the wide range of coffees available.
Keep up the great work!
